The Branford Hills Health Care
Center has been serving the residents of Branford and the surrounding communities
with physical and occupational therapy services for the past two decades.
Both the Physical and Occupational Therapy Departments are staffed with in-house,
full-time registered therapists who perform patient evaluations, tests and measurements of
strength, balance, endurance, range of motion, and activities of daily living.
Most insurances are accepted. |

Physical Therapy:
Our Physical therapists can assist our clients for:
 | Orthopedic injuries |
 | Low back and neck strain |
 | Neurological disorders including Parkinsons
disease and stroke |
 | Hand and finger splinting due to accidents or
arthritis
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome |
 | Sports injuries including tendonitis, sprains and
strains
Rotator Cuff injuries |
 | Post-operative conditions (such as hip or knee
replacements) |
 | Arthritic conditions |
 | Sciatica

Outpatient Occupational Therapy:
Occupational therapy is for individuals of all ages
whose lives have been disrupted by physical and/or emotional deficits. These conditions
require specialized assistance in learning skills to enable the individual to lead an
independent, productive and satisfying life. Upon referral from a physician, patients will
receive an evaluation and a personalized treatment plan designed to meet his or her
rehabilitative needs.
Our Occupational Therapists assist the
patient through:
 | Promoting independence
in essential life skills related to self-care and home management |
 | Rehabilitation of hand
and upper extremity injuries |
 | Recommending,
fabricating and/or monitoring of upper extremity orthotics and adaptive
devices |
 | Providing cognitive and
perceptual retraining |
 | Home accessibility
evaluations |
 | Physical therapy
services may only be provided when ordered by a licensed physician,
physiatrist, or podiatrist |

Complete evaluation
of communication impairment in the following areas
 | Neurologically-based disorders of communication due to
stroke, ALS, Parkinson's, traumatic brain injury. |
 | Voice disorders |
 | Impaired communication due to oral or laryngeal cancer |
 | Dysphagia - evaluation and therapy |
